Ordered food and was told that the oil still needed to heat up, which would take 10-15 minutes. After 45 minutes, I went to ask how much longer it would take, and I was told it was going into the fryer now. In the meantime, several other customers were already waiting for their food. After an hour, I still hadn't received my food, but the other customers had. I went to inquire about it, and I was told it would be ready in 2 minutes. I indicated that I don't think it's normal to have to wait an hour for one portion of fries and a snack. This isn't the first time the service has been this bad! I asked for my money back because there was no apology or compensation. I only received that after having to argue. Terrible service.
I always ordered from NY Pizza and was fairly happy with it. Last night I got food poisoning, resulting in being sick for the weekend. Thanks, won't order again. Get your ingredients fresh.
Place was not really clean. Staff seemed overwhelmed and not really on the ball. Fries were all soggy and dumped in the bag (takeaway) with 1/3 of the fries already out of their containers. Drinks had 80% ice!!! And no napkins placed in the bag. 😢
What a mess there. For starters, the veal croquette was freezing cold inside, the frikandel speciaal was stuck to the bottom of the container—I had to scrape the mayonnaise, curry, and onions off the bag, the meatball was lukewarm and crumbly—I couldn't eat it with a fork because the ground meat crumbled off, and finally, the fries were incredibly tough and dry. In short, a mess, and for so much money. You'd expect something decent for that price, especially these days when everything has become so expensive. No more Foodmaster for us.
Since the place got a new owner, I think the food is really good! It used to be different, but now it's a big thumbs up and very hospitable and friendly! So I thought I'd give it a try, because I think they deserve it!
Today, Friday, October 24, 2026, I ordered a 40cm double tasty with the following flavors:
- New York pizza
- Black Truffle pizza.
I ordered the pizza at 6:42 PM.
The pizza was ready at 7:23 PM but wasn't delivered until 7:49 PM.
Unfortunately, it was a COLD pizza!!
Worthless!! We live only a 5-minute bike ride from the location.
We won't be ordering from here again. Worthless!
We were craving it, but we'll go to Domino's Pizza in Sassenheim in the future.
Unprofessional behavior at Bakker van Maanen Katwijk
I walked into Bakker van Maanen in Katwijk, looking for a sandwich and a cup of coffee. At that moment, I was wearing my wolf costume.
Not for Carnival. Not as a joke. Just because it is comfortable, warm, and — let's be honest — I love it. And there is nothing strange about that.
What is strange, though?
That I was laughed at.
By the staff.
At first, I thought I was imagining it. A smile, a remark, a look. But no — it became increasingly clear. Whispering to each other. Chuckling. Someone said out loud: “What is that person wearing?”
Excuse me?
Let me make this clear:
What someone wears is none of your business as a bakery employee.
Especially not if that person simply enters politely, orders calmly, and wants to be treated with respect. I didn't ask for an opinion. I came for a croissant.
This kind of behavior is unprofessional, inappropriate, and downright childish.
Laughing at a customer because of their clothing isn't funny — it's embarrassing. For you.
The service was substandard. I left the croissant untouched.
If you can't be treated normally in a wolf costume, what does that say about the people behind the counter?
I left the rest of my croissant lying on the sidewalk in front of the intensely overcooked baker Van Maanen. I am never coming back here.
I've ordered delicious food several times. Just the way it should be! Often, the food at other places is lukewarm, late, and bad, but this is simply a good burger for a fair price, consistently delivered well. Thanks! Even if you order late, the delivery driver is very fast and friendly.
