Unfortunately, this was the one meal in Amsterdam that really disappointed us, particularly because the service and food everywhere else we visited had been exceptional.
We waited quite a while to be served and ordered our mains with the wine pairing. Both wines arrived well before the food, including a white wine that was already warm, so they were taken away to be brought back with our meals.
The problem was that we didn't have consistent servers. The person who took the wine away didn't appear to know when our food had arrived, while the person who brought the food clearly didn't know we'd ordered a wine pairing. As a result, neither wine came back. We eventually had to ask for them when we were already halfway through eating. Warm white wine and cold food is pretty much the opposite of how a wine pairing should work.
The food itself had some good elements. My husband's sauce was delicious, but his pasta was cold and the mushrooms lacked flavour. However tasty a pasta dish might be, serving it cold is always going to spoil it. My burger was perfectly nice, although nothing particularly special, but the chips were cold to the point that I didn't eat them. If you're serving burger and chips and half the plate is left uneaten, someone should really notice.
That was probably the biggest issue. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy and there seemed to be plenty of staff, but there was very little attention to what was happening at individual tables. Staff seemed to spend quite a lot of time talking amongst themselves and, when our plates were eventually cleared with a significant amount of food left, nobody asked whether there had been a problem.
We raised it ourselves at the end and even had to suggest whether they might offer us a cocktail at the bar. They eventually did, which we appreciated, but we'd much rather someone had checked on us during the meal and had the opportunity to put things right then.
The menu is quite limited too, so this isn't a case of a kitchen trying to execute a huge number of dishes.
Perhaps we were unlucky, but compared with the exceptional service and quality we experienced everywhere else in Amsterdam, this really stood out for the wrong reasons. It could be so much better, but based on our experience I would avoid it.
Unfortunately, a very bad experience. When placing the order, I clearly indicated: do not ring the doorbell, but call the provided mobile number, due to the children and the late hour. Naturally, the doorbell was rung anyway, waking the children and causing quite a commotion.
Subsequently, after receiving the order, we received a phone call stating that something was wrong. The delivery person returned and rang the doorbell again, waking the children up once more. The food that had already been touched was then taken back. Fine, but as a result, the order was naturally far from complete.
Additionally, the chili cheese nuggets were completely missing. According to them, nothing could be done about this, and apparently, compensation was not an option either. You pay for an order that you ultimately do not receive in full.
All in all, a very bad experience. Both the delivery and the handling of the error were disappointing. I will certainly never order from here again.
SCAM
They automatically charged me for a deposit cup when I ordered a coffee to go, without even asking. When I brought the cup back, they refused to return my deposit and insisted on giving me a plastic token instead. I’d expect this kind of behavior from a tourist trap, but I can’t believe it happened on university grounds.
Ridiculous! Ordered, waited an hour and a half, nothing delivered, called, and then it was my fault the pizza wasn't delivered. The order was still being made and would be delivered soon. Horrible service. Not what Domino's should be. I had a huge argument with an English-speaking Indian guy who thought it was my problem and didn't think of solutions. Truly awful. So disappointing.
Expensive (more so than la place already is normally), food wasnt that special, but if you're hungry and need something quick - it's as good an option as any while at the park.
Accessibility wasn't great, rough ramps, and only 1 way into the building if you are using a wheelchair.
Service (if you need a burger and french fries) was very slow.
Actual choices of food were very limited.
Very disappointing experience!
Yesterday I stopped by here to get a dürüm. While waiting, I saw several fruit flies/gnats flying back and forth; I found the hygiene to be poor. Fortunately, the food was in containers with lids.
I placed my order and paid €6. For that amount, I received a dürüm with a little döner, a little lettuce, and sauce. There was no tomato, onion, or salad in it.
What I found particularly strange is that the board/menu clearly states that salad and other ingredients are supposed to be included. If something isn't available, that can happen, of course. But then just be honest about it and tell the customer.
The gentleman at the cash register tried very nicely to say: "Yes, it's better in containers, fresh, and at some shops, dry döner." Because I was in a hurry, I didn't say anything at that moment and just left. If he had simply explained sincerely and honestly why I didn't get what was on the menu, I probably wouldn't have written a review.
But for €6, I do expect a dürüm like the one offered on the menu. I found this really disappointing.
My advice: I wouldn't be coming back here anytime soon. It is a shame, though; it used to be hygienic and the selection was extensive.
If you *do* want tasty and fresh Turkish food, I recommend Bakkerij Sultan, Vuurplaat 271 in Rotterdam. Also, in my experience, Sultan Brood, Laan op Zuid 1176, 3071 AC Rotterdam is a much better choice. The food there is fresh, well-filled, and simply much better.
I got takeout here tonight. First of all, the man was unfriendly and asked for cash; after saying a few times that I didn't have any, he was allowed to pay by card. Next, I got a doner kebab with extra meat; well, I wonder what you get if you order without extra meat. Then, my friends and I all suffered from the food. Definitely not recommended, this place.
What a worthless….
We waited a whopping 1.5 hours for our order. Then we had to check the receipt ourselves at the checkout, because the order taken was completely wrong. Everything that was supposed to be without onion was simply listed as with onion on the receipt, while "without sauce" or "with sauce" was noted incorrectly.
After the employee checked the receipt multiple times while packing, you would expect it to be correct afterwards. Unfortunately… Upon arriving home, we discovered that 5 fries were still missing.
This bag had been forgotten but had already been sitting on a shelf cooling down for 15 minutes. They just wanted to give it to us again when we returned because the order was incorrect….
In short: a 1.5-hour wait, an incorrect order, missing fries, and even the bag forgotten. This is truly far below par. Apparently, checking an order multiple times is pointless if it is ultimately not handed over complete and correctly.
