After having read quite some feedbacks here before me, I feel confused if I would like to visit De Schuur again.
Quite contradictory reviews, overall.
Our experience today was okay, not more.
I was caught by the ambiance and the location.
The stuff is slow, but it was okay - besides us, there were more guests, one big group of family/friends of roughly 15 people.
First impression of inside, by the way, was confusing - none is welcoming you, stuff was somewhere hidden.
It's not a big deal, though.
My meal (german name kind of pizza) was good and warm, and quick.
My partner' carpacchio was also quick but not that fresh:/
We would like to return after some month and hopefully to have a better experience.
I really expect to receive a reaction on my review from De Schuur, as I saw only 1 reaction on a 5 star review, so far....
Good value for money, especially the all-inclusive package for children: unlimited pancakes and ice cream for €11.50. After the meal, the children were also allowed to choose a small gift. The pancakes were a bit bland, though well cooked. Nice play area inside and playground outside. The changing area is a bit small and not very clean. There were ants crawling on the table. The service is very friendly. A pitcher of lemonade was also available to order, but it is not on the menu.
Very disappointing experience. From the moment we arrived, we felt unwelcome. The staff member who attended us had very poor communication skills and was unnecessarily rude. There is a difference between being busy and being disrespectful, and unfortunately this was the latter. On top of that, no one came to our table to check on us or offer any assistance. Customer service is a huge part of the dining experience, and this place fell far below even the most basic expectations. I would not recommend it based on the service alone.
The bouncer thinks he's something special; my girlfriend lost her phone and after calling 50 times and saying we weren't leaving without it (because the location was still there), he just had the phone. And that lady from outside thinks she's something else entirely; a little bit of authority goes to her head very quickly. Just aggressive and rude. The staff inside were fine, except for that ginger; he might as well have been standing outside with that attitude.
We ate here tonight with our granddaughter, 2 pizzas and the chicken doner platter (luckily we chose the small size). The food arrived quickly and everything tasted good, juicy meat with crispy fries and well-baked pizzas. In short, highly recommended.
