From the moment you enter the hotel, the concierge opens the door for you. They also escort you to the restaurant, where the staff politely greets you and takes your coat/bag, then brings you to your table. The Christmas decorations were already up, creating a warm and beautiful atmosphere. Our hostess explained the concept of afternoon tea and then poured us a delicious non-alcoholic aperitif. She also mentioned any allergies we had mentioned; I don't eat oysters, so this was replaced with something else. Very thoughtful and attentive! The tiered stand looked beautiful, with a mix of sweet and savory. The savory snacks were paired with a Japanese tea, and the sweet snacks with a different tea. Whenever your cup was empty, the staff refilled it, so there was no teapot on the table. Most of the snacks were delicious. Some savory ones lacked more flavor, and the chocolate, what sweet ones there were, was overwhelming. After the tiered stand, we were served two types of scones. These were warm and freshly baked. Soft on the inside, served with vanilla cream, lemon custard, and apple compote. It was a generous amount, so we were able to take two scones home. It was a fantastic afternoon with lots of delicious treats and excellent service!
