Delicious classic menu plus an extensive game menu tonight. All four of us ate deliciously and had more than enough, including the red cabbage, Brussels sprouts, and stewed pear. Service was prompt, attentive, friendly, and hospitable. A cozy and pleasant restaurant. I was even allowed to put our reservation ‘on hold’ until the very last moment. Absolutely worth repeating! We will certainly be back. P.S.: we were not deterred by the less-than-positive reviews; we cannot understand them given our own experience. So don't let them bother you and enjoy it just as much as we did!
Unfortunately, I only took a photo of my own stew, but here it is.
It is a shame that the staff is so unpleasant and unfriendly. It seemed she wasn't enjoying her work there. Long wait time even though it was very quiet.
I ordered an ice tea and paid 4 euros. It turned out to be a kind of lemonade without fizz. Yuck. I won't be coming back.
Great experience! Very tasty food and good service. We were a large group of 15 people and were seated quickly to be served, even though we hadn't reserved in advance. Definitely recommended; we will be back!
Great for kids, tasty pancakes (and other food), and friendly staff. A bit pricey though. Why, for example, is the veggie burger more expensive than the Angus beef burger?
The bread served beforehand was very tasty and clearly fresh. The fries were also good, and the Meneer Smit burger tasted good. Unfortunately, the chicken burger was disappointing. The coleslaw was very watery, causing the moisture to soak completely into the bun, making it quite soggy.
Unfortunately, the service was truly substandard. There seemed to be a complete lack of oversight, and our table was barely looked after. To order a new drink, I eventually had to walk to the bar myself. Subsequently, the main course was served without cutlery, and I had to go after that myself as well.
So, the food was mixed, with certainly a few good points, but it was mainly the poor service that made the overall experience a letdown.
What terrible service. Getting a drink takes a long time. The food is mediocre; they don't have bread. The staff isn't paying attention to the people who are there. We have eaten here 3 times now because the food is sort of good. But the irritation due to the bad service is so great that we won't be coming back. I don't understand how they can exist like this. What was supposed to be a nice birthday dinner ended in irritation over the service and a very hefty bill again, which really wasn't worth it.
A very nice restaurant; we sat right by the canal. The fish and chips with red cabbage and celery salad were excellent! They had a great selection of wines and beers. Thank you for the friendly service.
Thought I was getting a nice Advocaat sundae. It was a tub of melted ice cream; the freezer was opened too often. No apology, but I still had to pay the full price. Not worth repeating.
You shouldn't serve this to customers.
I ran into some people on leaving. Told them not to order ice cream because you get milk instead of ice cream.. Worthless
The majestic peacocks that usually parade here had 'a job elsewhere' this time. Their absence was more than compensated for by the extremely friendly staff, 'bubbles & bread', a wonderful setting, and a sunny terrace. Lunch at its best!
