It's located at the edge of Amsterdam Airport.
I was having trouble finding a place to charge my phone at the airport, but there was one at this table, which was very helpful!
This was our first and last order. It took 30 minutes, which is still okay when it's busy. But everything was cold or lukewarm. Nothing is worse than cold fries in mayo, a cold frikandel, and a cold croquette. The result? No, it actually wasn't tasty.
For years, we've been able to buy authentic Kroes Duivekaters here.
What a luxury!
Always friendly service, despite the crowds.
Now this baker is closing down due to retirement.
We wish you all the best.
But they've made sure that Duivekaters will be available at Bakker Kaandorp starting in 2025. Excellent.
And yes, they cost €10, a fair price for such a delicious, large loaf.
All the best, greetings from a true Duivekater fan since 1950
Nestled within the University Library at Drift, this café is nothing short of a haven in the heart of Utrecht, owing much to its outstanding team. Every single team member has always given me very good service and they’re always open for a chat. In view of another review I just read, special mention must be made of the two more experienced ladies on staff: their presence is a cornerstone of the café’s inviting atmosphere and they’re friendly and provide impeccable service.
As for certain scathing reviews, such as the regrettable one by ‘Mel Bonnet’, they are entirely unfounded and grossly misrepresent the unparalleled experience offered at Café Lodewijk. One really cannot help but pity such negativity, for it speaks more of the reviewer than of the café itself, which remains a paragon of excellence.
I recommend it unreservedly!
Really awful. I received the wrong order—I called to say it was the wrong order. They said they'd look into it. I called back a day later and still haven't heard anything. They said they were going to inform the manager—now a week later, I still haven't heard anything. A real waste of money, and a real shame when you're just hungry.
Unfortunately, the food here wasn't good. It looked quite unappetizing, so I decided to have fries and a cheese soufflé fried. Unfortunately, they both tasted like they came from frying fat that had been sitting there for months.
Holy Bakkerij & Eethuis delivers what you'd expect from an average döner place: fast, easy, affordable, and without unnecessary frills. It's not a place you'd make a special detour for, but it's a place you can go to if you just want a quick, no-fuss meal.
🍽️ Food: OK but nothing special
The döner is fine, standard in flavor, and the portions are reasonable. The bread and sauces are what you'd find at most similar places. It's filling, it does what it's supposed to, but it lacks that distinctive quality that you'll immediately remember.
⚙️ Service: Depends on how busy it is
The staff is friendly enough, but at busy times, you notice their speed and attentiveness wane somewhat. Orders are usually correct, although it can sometimes take a little longer than you'd expect.
🧽 Hygiene & Appearance
The place looks neat, though it's not particularly cozy or inviting. It's certainly functional, but the atmosphere remains somewhat basic.
💶 Value for money
The prices are in line with what you're used to in the area. You get exactly what you pay for—no surprises, no outliers.
Conclusion:
Holy Bakkerij & Eethuis is a solid, average choice for a quick bite. Not bad, not great, just a solid 3-star experience. Perfect if you have no expectations and just want a quick meal.
