"Eating in moderation brings six benefits: you stay healthy, live a long life, are always strong, feel well, have wonderful children, and are not scorned by others as a glutton."

When I entered the "Taj Mahal" around 7 p.m. on Christmas Day 2024, I was surprisingly the only guest, which rather disconcerted me.
(Earlier, I had been at a Thai restaurant nearby, which was completely full.)
I felt somewhat sorry for the man and woman, apparently the owners of the "Taj Mahal," who were both waiting at different tables.
When I needed to use the restroom, I noticed that the door was half open and apparently couldn't be closed at all.
The entire restroom seemed clean, but very antiquated.
The selection of vegetarian dishes was relatively large. I opted for vegetarian korma with vegetables, sour cream, cashews, and mild curry.
The food was quite satisfactory, although the curry was a bit too sweet for my taste.
(There was nothing to complain about with the drinks.)
The portion could have been a bit larger, especially since white rice isn't very filling.
The entire ambiance, however, was outdated and in need of renovation.
As a result, I didn't feel particularly comfortable in this Indian restaurant.
A pricey place, but that's really all there is to the Zaanse Schans. The service was cheerful, the cappuccino was good, the pastries were delicious, and they even served a liqueur.
I ordered food at 4:45 PM and two hours later I contacted them to ask where it was. Thuisbezorgd had canceled the order and refunded the money. That was great, but now we have no food. It's a strange solution. If I hadn't contacted them, we would still be waiting.
So Thuisbezorgd says it's open, but the door says "On Holiday until January 15, 2026."
It's a shame the Thuisbezorgd website is no longer trusted by its customers.
It would be nice if the opening hours were correctly listed online... it would prevent frustration in front of a closed door.
Update: contacted them. Ordered again this time. Looked much better!
Tastes much better too!
I regularly order from Taco Mundo.
But today, this is outrageous.
I ordered street tacos and a single taco. But these weren't from a whole taco, but a section torn off or something.
Delivered a few minutes before 10 p.m. and called immediately, but of course, no one answered. Never experienced this before. Filed a complaint through the website.
We had to wait a long time for delivery. The food quality was absolutely terrible! A few hours after eating, several people in our group became ill. Typical symptoms of food poisoning. Apparently, another group at the holiday park had the same issue. This meant we had to cut our wonderful weekend short! Such a shame! Absolutely not a pleasant experience.
My order was prepared incorrectly and was inedible. According to the owner, it was my fault because I ordered the wrong thing. "My own fault," he says, but there's no solution or gesture. The kapsalon turned into kapsalon soup thanks to the amount of sauce and soggy fries.
If you have a choice, go to the snack bar around the corner where they're happy to have customers.
We waited 20 minutes before being served. Our waiter was well past retirement age and was serving in sweatpants and a fleece sweater. When we asked if a mocktail was available, we had to double-check. A mocktail was available, but it was served in a "Fuzetea" glass and looked like a glass of poured lemonadeâno ice, no decorations, nothing at all. My wife's wine was poured by someone with a rather unpleasant body odor.
At a restaurant where a starter costs 17 euros, you don't expect a menu with slipcovers and printed A4 sheets.
After 40 minutes, we were finally able to order.
A good hour after arriving, our food arrived, but my order for the Canard l'Orange hadn't gone through correctly. I received a satay instead. So I sent everything back, and we heard a lot of yelling and cursing from the kitchen. I felt sorry for the wait staff, so I went to the kitchen to eat the satay.
But even that satay was better than I'd had at a snack bar. Three skewers, a small handful of fries, and even less dry lettuce. The meat was dry and full of tendons.
My wife had a burger with a bun as dry as a sheet of cardboard.
We had the feeling they were understaffed that evening and had just pulled some people in.
They finished 6th in Gelderland on Dining with the Stars with 9.22 points, but I wonder how they managed to achieve that.
We were really looking forward to a nice bistro dinner, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a disappointment.
Dirty fries, rancid, yuck. Expensive too, especially for what was delivered. You wouldn't expect it in a prime location in the city center. Disinterested staff, too. I'll never go back.
