In the city center next to the Markt in Assen, you'll find "The Black Tie." Make a reservation for a culinary experience. I enjoyed a 5-course menu with matching wines. It's cozy and intimate. Highly recommended if you're looking for a culinary surprise. Gentlemen can leave their ties at home, and ladies, beware: before you know it, your black pumps will be hanging from the ceiling 😉. Reservations are required, which is important to know.

What a wonderful restaurant! We went for the six-course lunch, served by Maaike, a wine expert. She explained each wine in detail: the soil conditions where the vines were grown, the influence of the streams, and how the grapes were treated. Meiske was 22 and full of experience. The food was absurdly delicious. The rest of the staff was also excellent. It certainly won't be our last visit. Kudos and compliments to this wonderful restaurant.
Op een zondag tafelen bij "Flicka" is geen straf !! Restaurant eigenlijk doorlopend geopend vanaf 12.30 uur tot in de avond. Hier wordt op zeer hoog niveau gekookt en Thomas van Santfoort behoort tot de beste chefs van ons land. Deze keer geen uitvoerige beschrijving van de gangen (hoewel: rode biet met lavas was een giller als amuse !!!) maar een traan is bij mij en mijn eega nauwelijks te onderdrukken want per 01-01-2026 sluit dit etablissement. Thomas is (en laten we hopen: niet was) een uitzonderlijk talent maar ook de zwarte brigade functioneert uitstekend onder leiding van de charmante Merlijn. Echt een topadres, prachtig gelegen aan de Maas met mooi uitzicht.
Our accommodation recommended Rickkies for dinner. Reservations are required, as indicated at the entrance. We opted for the main course platter and a baguette to start. The butter with the baguette was delicious! The variety of meat on the platter was extensive, and the quantity was generous. The hamburger was juicy and well-seasoned, as was the sausage. The other cuts could have been a bit more seasoned and were a bit dry. The garlic sauce was used effectively. Meat should be so flavorful and juicy that it doesn't need any additional sauce. The wines were excellent.
