Normally I don’t give bad review but at this beautiful cafe next to the botanical garden makes me feel unwelcome :) We are there waiting for half an hour and the staff just ignore us and then just take order to the table next to us who came more late :/ I don’t understand and it’s not busy at that time since I saw the waitress was wondering around aimlessly:) in the end we just leave even though we are planning to have nice drinks.
The beyti kebab was unfortunately disappointing. I paid €22 for two small skewers of meat. There was no rice/bulgur with it either. A bit strange for this price.
They give the kids a lump of pizza dough to play with. And you can see the kitchen, see them making all the food, which I love. Staff excellent, pizzas really good.
What a wonderful experience this was. Everything was perfectly fresh and the taste was truly fantastic.
The sushi was deliciously crispy thanks to the golden brown crust. The rolls with the fresh cucumber inside were a particular hit with us at the table. It was exactly what we were in the mood for. We will definitely be back here soon for more.
3rd time I've ordered in a week. Superrrr tasty fresh hot chicken and kapsalon sandwiches. Plus, always very friendly, fast delivery and good prices. 10/10
We were a large group (20+ people) and had dinner there today. The table was reserved, and after a few initial communication difficulties with our order, everything seemed fine. The restaurant's ambiance appeared very modern at first glance (long bar table, decorative pond plants, etc.), however, some of the chairs were quite dirty and covered in stains.
In short, regarding our order:
- The dishes (empanadas, tacos, cakes) were, in my opinion, overpriced compared to what you get (€14 for two tacos).
- The server unfortunately forgot two dishes and brought slightly different versions of some of them.
- It took 1.5 hours between ordering and actually receiving our food!
... - I only wanted an apple pie and a Corona (which also took 1.5 hours) and paid €15 for it (both €7.50), which I would classify as an "exploitative establishment."
- Ultimately, we were refused the option of paying separately, as it was too much trouble, so one of us had to pay and we split the rest between ourselves.
Overall, a disappointing visit; I've generally had many worse experiences with restaurants in Amsterdam. Apparently, the combination of bad food, fancy furniture, and exorbitant prices is part of Amsterdam's charm. I can only advise against it, unless you want to throw your money away. A sandwich at Albert Heijn only costs €4 and is much more filling than the overpriced mini-portions in that store.
Last Friday, my cycling friend and I were looking for a place in Weesp where we could get a nice cup of coffee with cake. A lovely Weesp resident pointed us to coffee bar 'T Hoekje.
On the cozy terrace, we chose a coffee with apple pie and a cappuccino with carrot cake. There was no choice, because 'T Hoekje didn't have any other pastries.
To my dismay, I was served a dry piece of carrot cake: when you put your pastry fork into it, the result was a plate full of crumbs.
Of course, I should have taken immediate action, but because of the good mood, I just wolfed it down while my friend enjoyed his apple pie.
I decided to pay inside so that I could let the wait staff know 'in private' that my carrot cake had been well below par.
Instead of a 'Sorry sir, thank you for your comment. Of course, we will take the carrot cake off the bill immediately,' I had to make do with a 'But sir, our carrot cake comes fresh from the bakery.'
Then I was nonchalantly presented with a bill for €19.50.
