Went as a group of 14 people, booked in advance. Was seated at two tables of 7, next to each other. Food was ok but service was very slow. Most of the staff were nice and friendly but one of the waitresses was rude.
Some restaurants impress you with their menu. Others make you wish they were around the corner from your home. Bar Centraal is firmly in the second category.
The food was genuinely good throughout the evening - thoughtful, flavorful and clearly prepared with care - but what stayed with me most was the atmosphere. The room has that rare energy where everyone seems to be having a good time without it ever feeling loud or forced. Relaxed, lively, and effortlessly cool.
A special mention to the team, who struck the perfect balance between professionalism and friendliness. The service felt natural and welcoming rather than rehearsed, which made the whole experience even better.
As a visitor to Amsterdam, it felt less like discovering a restaurant and more like discovering a place locals would secretly hope tourists never find. I’d happily return on my next visit.
The oat milk latte here is phenomenal~rich espresso perfectly blended with creamy, smooth oat milk for a delicious treat. Equally amazing is the incredibly friendly staff. Their warm smiles, genuine kindness, and attentive service truly brighten your day and make you feel completely welcome.
Beautiful place, clean, and even has a cozy little corner to sit and enjoy your delicious burrito/bowl. The staff is super friendly! A special shout-out to Chama and Mathilde, they provided me with fantastic service you rarely encounter these days. They understood how to add something special to an experience. Thank you, ladies! Sushito, these are gems for your location on the Albert.
I don't give a star at all! Two weeks ago we reserved a table for 2 people for 7 p.m. We expected a nice, pleasant evening with delicious food. Received a reminder for the reservation on the evening itself. When we got there it was closed. What a downer and our whole evening was ruined!!!! Not even an email or a message at the door of the restaurant. Everything was dark but tables were set. I think they are bankrupt and closed forever. So people no longer reserve and don't book. You won't even receive a normal response. A day later I received an email about how we had enjoyed the evening. What a joke...A very angry and disappointed customer!! :(
This place is far from an authentic Middle Eastern restaurant. It feels more like a commercialized imitation than anything rooted in real tradition. The food is overpriced, the portions don’t match what you pay for, and the flavours don’t reflect the region they claim to represent.
The staff seem disengaged and indifferent to what they’re serving or how long customers wait. Nothing about the experience shows respect for the Middle Eastern culinary tradition they’re trying to borrow from.
Overall, it comes across as a shallow, overpriced knock-off rather than a genuine taste of Middle Eastern culture.
