De beste restaurants in Amsterdam

I got cassava soup today for €15 and I am really disappointed. I live nearby and come here often, but this really let me down. The soup was incredibly watery and there was a thick, orange layer of oil floating on top, with tomato skins in it. Cassava soup is normally supposed to be a bit thicker. But if you are going to make it thinner anyway, at least make sure there is enough cassava in it. In my whole bowl, there were literally only three pieces of cassava. Otherwise, it was mainly chicken and salted meat. I can accept that there was no garnish like celery or parsley in it. But then at least make sure there is actually cassava in a cassava soup. This was basically just watery, greasy broth with meat. Very disappointing and a waste of my money. Sorry Draver, but y’all can do so much better than this. ☹️

The food has really been down lately. Besides the fact that the noodles I ordered were almost cold, neither the noodles nor the fête nam had almost any flavor. And the lack of flavor in the food has become the rule rather than the exception lately. It's a real shame, because ordering really good food at San Lok a few years ago.

Had a great evening last week after dinner at the Arena.

Celebrated my birthday here with a game of karaoke. The staff was exceptionally nice and helpful. Recommended for anyone looking for a fun evening!

Disappointing. Waited for a long time for someone to take my order, I even tried ordering inside. They finally came around after taking 3 other customers’ orders first, who showed up long after I did. I got the quiche, which looked like it came from frozen, and heated up unevenly.

This was quite a tasty experience and the welcoming atmosphere was just an added bonus. Given we were koi Americans traveling abroad, I communicated with the staff prior to our visit to notify them of my wife’s guide dog. They had no concerns with her needs, placed us in a spot that was perfect for everyone’s comfort and would not be in the way for service. This is to say, I recommend this restaurant as being very accessible and accommodating. Regarding the food, we went with the 12-Dish Rijsttafel which is a rice banquet that balances flavors across tiers of mild and medium dishes with plain and coconut rice. They also have an 18 dish option but since there was only two of us, 12 was more than enough. Each dish was different, flavorful, and a great mix of meat and vegetables. Highly recommend visiting.

Having already been customers of the adjoining bakery, we tried VRR's neighborhood menu, which was very good, especially for vegetarians like us. The service, decor, and atmosphere were pleasant, perfect for the heart of Amsterdam's summer. It's a shame they don't serve lunch; it's always a bit surprising for French tourists like us. We'll definitely be back another evening!

The mochi donut was very good but the toast with the steak inside was not too impressive. The matcha had a good taste and the strawberry matcha had a fresh strawberry flavor that didn’t taste artificial. Overall a little bit expensive.

They are complete scammers. I asked to replace chicken with shrimps in a Ceaser salad and i had to pay 18 EUR for 3 shrimps!!!! OUTRAGEOUS! I asked for bread for a soup, they charged me 15 EUR for 2 small slices. When you tell them they are robbers with empty tables, they mock you, say you have to pay and this is Amsterdam so you are not very smart in their view as you should know this is an expensive area. I will make a complaint to the authorities as well, please don’t visit this place! It’s a joke and the worst robbery! This never happened to me in my 6y living in NL.

We stopped by Las Estrellas - Pizza, Pasta and Grill and had a wonderful dining experience! ​We ordered two classic pasta dishes: Pasta Bolognese and Pasta Carbonara. Both were absolutely delicious! The Bolognese had a rich, savory meat sauce that was packed with authentic flavor, and the pasta was cooked to perfection. The Carbonara was brilliantly creamy, perfectly seasoned, and incredibly satisfying without feeling overly heavy. ​The portion sizes were generous, and the dishes came out piping hot. Beyond the great food, the service was warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout our meal. The relaxed, cozy atmosphere made it a perfect spot to unwind and enjoy comfort food. ​If you're looking for quality Italian dishes and great hospitality, Las Estrellas is definitely worth a visit. We’ll be coming back!
