Being condescending about our knowledge of the covid regulations. Even the waitress was like "what are you doing". No wonder it's was the only empty place on the Nieuwmarkt yesterday. Drank a nice margarita at the Cuba instead with excellent service.

I bought a coffee from the café’s outside stand before the Amsterdam Marathon, then joined the queue to use the toilet. I was told I still had to pay €1 because I had bought from the outside stand rather than inside, even though it was the same business and the coffee was the same price. I understand charging non-customers to use the toilet, especially on a very busy marathon morning, but treating someone who has just bought from your own stand as if they are not a customer feels unreasonable. The way this was explained when I queried it was also unnecessarily unfriendly.
