Very nice service. We werde outside, then the wind got stronger, they offered us to sit inside even though we had a tiny dog. (in theory no dogs allowed inside)
Prizes are reasonable for this location and the food is amazing in my opinion. Had the Pizza Funghi and my girlfriend had creamy chicken pasta. Both very nice. Would highly recommend.
OUTSTANDING! Amazing Gluten Free options as in the biggest GF menu ever. Perfect for my wife who is Celiac and the non GF food was incredible as well. The bartender/waiter who served us on the early evening of 8.1.26 was extremely attentive and was great about asking about allergy issues the moment we sat down. Great GF beers and plenty of local brews on draft as well. The highlight of our long day and perfect after our 9 hour red eye with no sleep flight. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for GF or not!
We had a superb meal here last night. We splurged for a second raw course--the langoustines, and it was gorgeous. The kitchen uses seasonal ingredients, but I could eat the beefsteak tomato and homemade ricotta dish every day. It was so yummy. So was the pointed cabbage dish with miso butter. I like the elevated menu but unpretentious vibe.
We had reserved a table for 12 people in advance, were seated outside on the terrace, ordered plenty of drinks, left a generous tip, and behaved respectfully throughout. Yes, a group of 12 people will laugh and have conversations. That's exactly why you reserve a table for 12 and not for 2.
The waitress seemed annoyed from the very beginning, suddenly became much friendlier after seeing the tip (15 euros), and then, about 20 minutes later, asked us to leave without any warning. No polite request to keep it down. No conversation. No explanation. Just a statement that we were no longer welcome.
If a group of 12 men apparently doesn't fit the atmosphere you're aiming for, despite accepting the reservation, serving the order, and happily taking the money, it might be fair to communicate that beforehand.
This was the first time anyone in our group has ever been thrown out of a venue. Ironically, it happened in a café that seems eager to present itself as particularly "open-minded" and "inclusive."
At the next place we visited, we told the story. The reaction there was mostly disbelief. The owner even apologized on behalf of his "colleagues" and offered us a complimentary drink. The difference in hospitality was noticeable within five minutes.
Fortunately, this café does not seem to represent Amsterdam as a whole. Every other venue we visited welcomed us warmly, treated us with respect, and, most importantly, treated us like valued paying customers.
If there were more than five stars, I would choose a higher rating. We enjoyed an absolutely stunning meal! The service was exceptional, the outdoor space was perfect…and then there was the food. Every course was layered, thoughtful and absolutely delicious!
Cozy café with a beautiful terrace. I love coming here with friends. Friendly service with a sense of humor. Tasty beers, and the red wine is fine too. And the white wine as well, by the way.
We had a great experience here, so much so we returned a second time with friends who were kind enough to visit from Belgium. The owner and his sons are really nice people and give just wonderful service. The food is fabulous! The caprese salad, spaghetti Parmesan and the carbonara were all perfect. A particular surprise was the molten lava cake that they make on site. When we return to Amsterdam, it will be on our itinerary!
