They asked about allergies right at the beginning. They have their own gluten-free menu.

Delicious food. We ordered a mix of Grill, fish and. Chips. As soon as we arrived we were served warm bread with some sauce. The most delicious onion mayonnaise sauce.

A typical café in the heart of the Amsel district. The owner is very friendly and the coffee is delicious, served with a delicious Dutch biscuit!

De Hemelse Modder has been a household name within the gay community for over thirty years. I believe I hadn't been there for twenty years myself, but fortunately, the lovely, relaxed atmosphere remains exactly the same. The service is sweet, attentive, and professional, with the owner himself at the helm. You can choose from a three-, four-, or five-course menu, which you compose yourself from the varied menu. I started with a delicious, well-seasoned fish soup. After that, I chose the rack of lamb with extra fries, followed by a cheese board. That is actually my only criticism: I found three tiny pieces of cheese to be very meager. It really could be a bit more generous. Finally, of course, we had the house dessert: the Hemelse Modder. That portion, however, was more than enough for two people. :-) In short: a very nice restaurant with good food, a relaxed atmosphere, and particularly pleasant service. I definitely won't be waiting twenty years before returning this time!

Once a month, there is a special day when German barrels of buer are opened. That is really cozy.
