What a surprise this place is! And even more so when you've been stuck in Amsterdam for days and you're Spanish 🙂
Ferni served us, and what a wonderful girl! She helped us with several questions we had, and besides... I TRIED SOME OF THE BEST AIOLI IN THE WORLD (not even in Spain!).
The garlic prawns were delicious, as were the bread and the sirloin skewers—the meat was cooked perfectly and incredibly tender.
Thank you, Ferni, for everything! 💕 🫂
Delicious New Year's meal! Meat and fish cooked by hand on a lava stone 😍
No kids' menu, but a dish shared between two 👍🏼
It was really cold in the basement 😬
This place is one of my favourite spots in town. If only the internet connection worked properly (it almost never does), it would be my go to place to eat, meet friends, and work.
The food was ok . The spaghetti was dry no enough tomato sauce and the stake was very good - the pizza was a little thick to Italian pizza the staff were nice and welcoming the place is cozy
Unfortunately, my experience at this restaurant was very disappointing. We went because they offer Persian food, but unfortunately, there was little authenticity to be found. The staff was very rude: they looked sour and were more focused on their phones than serving guests.
We sat in the back of the restaurant, where the smell of the restroom was clearly noticeable, which made the meal anything but enjoyable. Regarding the food itself: the lamb was extremely tough and tasted more like rubber than tender meat. The triple mix was small and of very poor quality – definitely not recommended.
I also advise against ordering bread instead of rice. The "bread" turned out to be just a reheated tortilla, which is completely inappropriate for Persian cuisine. All in all, there was nothing authentic about this restaurant, and certainly no reason for us to return.
A great spot for a quick coffee or a leisurely dinner! Good, friendly service, atmospheric spaces with vintage memorabilia, candles on the table, cozy playlists, and all reasonably priced. We go there often, highly recommended!
The prime rib was delicious, but the rest was incredibly disappointing. The hype surrounding Cafe Bern is completely unwarranted, in my opinion. There were no vegetables to dip in your cheese fondue, just the prime rib, and you could simply order a salad with sauce. We were also constantly reminded to order the next item quickly because we could only stay so late. "Do you want to order dessert? You have 20 minutes left before your reservation ends." This happened several times. The coziness and hospitality are completely gone. I recommend Het Karbeel or Proeflokaal van Wees for a cheese fondue; the service there is much warmer and there's a wider selection of vegetables for dipping. The decor is also much more inviting.
Cozy atmosphere and good food! I sometimes come here after a walk in Anna's Tuin & Ruigte. It's a shame, though, that every time I've been, I had to walk to the bar to order; no one has ever come to my table to take an order. You also pay at the bar yourself. Because of this, I've never left a tip. It's a lovely place, but unfortunately, the service is terrible.
Had to wait a very long time for a watery bouillabaisse that wasn't generously filled as described and had also gone cold. Shared dining has been replaced by very expensive main courses. The only positive here is the lovely terrace.
The host was very generous, he went out of his way to service my friends and I in the evening and gave good food suggestions. Would highly recommend, the food was amazing
It is sad to see how customers are treated differently. The European customers who was sitting next to me paid their bill while staying at their own table, whereas me and my friend who are Asian are required to pay the bill at the front desk.
