Favorite brunch place in Amsterdam. Always packed with people and a great vibe. Sad to see the restaurant changing/disappearing to become the second restaurant of Poppy’s.
We had an amazing dinner at Otaru! Everything was absolutely delicious. The sushi quality was fantastic, and the sashimi was incredibly fresh. The sashimi portions were also very generous—thick slices and great quality—which made it excellent value for the price.
The service was friendly, attentive, and efficient throughout the evening. Honestly, I don’t understand why the restaurant wasn’t full on a Friday night. It definitely deserves to be much busier. We’ll definitely be coming back!
Starters and one main course were very good, but the other main course, the rump steak, was simply bad. I had been looking forward to a juicy and tender piece of meat, but it was tough, dry, and sinewy. I did mention it afterwards, but perhaps I should have said it immediately...
The service was very friendly and helpful.
The high tea looked fantastic on the website, but unfortunately, this was not the case in practice. The photos show completely different snacks than what we received. The description also mentioned Caribbean and French flavors, but in reality, these were Dutch soft mini rolls and not special sweets; typical hotel food. The soup tasted like canned Unox soup, and the fruit was either canned or packaged, not even freshly prepared. It was a disappointing high tea with little flavor.
Fortunately, the staff was very sweet.
For the price, I would not recommend this to future guests who want to do this. You could get a super luxurious lunch for that price.
Great vibes.
You have to dress well, otherwise you'll be turned away 😅.
Thanks for everything, I didn't know about "Dance Dance Revolution", guaranteed fun 😁
Brasserie Van Baerle has been one of the best options in Oud Zuid for years. Delicious food, good service, and a great atmosphere. I have never been disappointed here.
We went there for brunch with my partner. We went back the following days! Healthy, generous portions, and very tasty food. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere relaxed in a cozy setting. You can even bring your laptop for a laid-back start to the day.
The pizza was nothing special, but the pasta was delicious. My daughter had the Arriabata tricolore, and I begged her to swap with my pizza, which did not impress. Good (but limited) selection of wines, and a very knowledgeable and friendly staff.
