Worst waffle ever. Kept warm inside a closed oven, not re-heated with the iron. Soggy, sugary crap. Straight to the bin.
The salted caramel sauce was also store bought and horrible. Business like these cater only to tourists who won’t return.
‼️CATASTROPHIC‼️
This restaurant was the worst I have ever eaten at.
The food tasted like it had been rescued from the trash yesterday and carelessly reheated.
The service was nonexistent, rude, and clearly annoyed by their own existence.
The wait was so long I could have moved house between the appetizer and the main course.
The cleanliness suggested that hygiene was treated as a very loose concept.
A place you should only visit if you want to permanently lower your expectations.
We literally waited an hour for our food; no one noticed we were sitting at an empty table the whole time. And yet, plenty of people were milling around, arms crossed, looking around and wandering around. We mostly ordered mezzes. They looked delicious on the menu with a variety of flavors, but in the end, it was all yogurt. Just yogurt with the occasional indeterminate chili pepper. The price was definitely not worth it.
Our morning treat.
The quality of the ingredients and the service were truly impeccable. Not to mention Antonio, a truly extraordinary person, highly professional, helpful, and friendly. Highly recommended!
We had one drink. Atmosphere is nice. Waiter was quite rude but we didnt expect much more from an old Dutch guy and this was exactly the vibe we were looking for.
The staff were incredibly welcoming, the atmosphere was great, and the burgers with fries were simply amazing – clearly some of the best I've ever had. The only slight downside is that the place is a bit cramped, but it's definitely worth the trip.
Quaint and chill.
I had the most expensive cocktail of my life here.
I only looked at the ingredients list and didn't realize it was a Martini. Pornstar Martini
for €15.50 for two sips.
Check the bill again. There was more on it than expected.
But you can sit comfortably, smoke, and get high while having a drink.
As a resident of Amsterdam-East, I've been to Blaffende Vis surprisingly often over the past 20 years.
Back when my office was still in the Westerpark business center and I often worked quite late there, the daily special at Blaffende Vis was often my savior. (Before I cycled on to "East".)
When I started giving private tours locally, I started taking others along too.
My photo is from 2017, I think, when King's Day looked like THIS at your place. It was clear that I wanted (had?) to partake of that!
As a volunteer at the Friday Night Skate, I also regularly pass by you on wheels. Because both Marnixstraat and Westerstraat are great for skating!
See you soon, Lex
