The food was delicious! The service was surprisingly fast, the pizzas were delicious, and the staff was incredibly friendly. Highly recommended if you're craving good pizza.
The Spanish waitress was very friendly but rushed and forgetful. She spoke incomprehensibly fast, slashing English.
Our gluten-free bread, which we brought ourselves, was made for another customer, and we were offered a drink as an excuse when we paid.
Well, then we had to leave.
We stumbled upon this place for a family dinner and were delighted with our experience. The whole fish was delicious, the burger nothing special, but we were able to finish with an excellent crumble. Aside from the food, the atmosphere is very cozy. Finally, the staff's patience with our boisterous 16-month-old baby deserves special mention.
Superb place, very friendly welcome, reasonably timed service, and good food... €40 per person for an aperitif with cheese bruschetta, main courses, drinks, desserts, and coffee... very reasonable. A shout-out to the doorman! 👌
You can never ever feel the taste of tamil authentic food anywhere in Europe other than this place .. Travelled 300km to eat food in Anjappar !! !!! Same taste and same feel like home 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻. Happy
A lovely location on Leidseplein in Amsterdam. Easily accessible, you arrive at a beautiful Art Deco building inside. They have a nice bar, and the tables are nicely decorated. The bench we sat on was still covered in food scraps, but that's beside the point.
First of all, the service was "okay." After reading the reviews, I don't mind people not speaking Dutch, and I find those comments quite annoying. Our waiter occasionally tried to say a few Dutch words. However, the service itself, engaging with guests, or making small talk was simply not an option. The staff's attitude seemed somewhat disinterested and distant. (This doesn't apply to all the staff.)
The food is beautifully presented, but for the price, the portions are very small. I also had steak tartare, which tasted more like minced meat than finely chopped steak. The wine was also good, but expensive for the quality.
Dessert, however, was nothing special, unfortunately.
Grilled meat rice? It looks more like braised meat, and the sauce is too sweet. We also ordered “Bún bò Huế,” but surprisingly, the broth was pho. So disappointed.
We were at Bret during ADE. It's a really cool venue, the staff was friendly, and the music was good. BUT the place was way too crowded for our event; you couldn't dance at all. This created an aggressive atmosphere among the guests. As I later saw on Instagram, it was the same at other parties. I know making money is the priority, but next time, let in 50 fewer people.
was very disappointed with the set menu at Floor 17. The food felt far more focused on being trendy than on being genuinely good.
The shrimp cocktail was texturally unappealing and poorly conceived. Serving very small shrimp with yet another side of rosemary sauce showed a lack of understanding of balance and flavour. Any trained chef would know this combination simply does not work.
The beef Wellington was even worse: excessively salty and deeply unpleasant. It was heavy, poorly seasoned, and completely missed the mark on what should be a refined, classic dish.
The presentation leaned into gimmicks rather than substance. The single croquette served under a lid felt ridiculous and self-important, especially considering the quality of what was underneath.
Overall, the three courses were about style over substance. For the price charged, the experience was not remotely justified. This restaurant is seriously overrated.
Please stop prioritizing trendy concepts and start focusing on well-prepared, thoughtfully composed food.
Don't waste your time or money here.
I don't usually leave reviews when I go somewhere, but what happened at this place was shameful, and not because of the food, which was passable, but because of the waiters. We ordered three hamburgers with the bacon add-on (since each extra is extra), and he only brought it to one of them. I politely explained that I had asked for bacon on all three, and he rudely replied that we hadn't said that and that I should look at the receipt instead of clearing up the misunderstanding by adding bacon to the other burgers and charging me accordingly. When he responded like that, I told him it was fine, but as we were leaving, they didn't even acknowledge our goodbyes. One of them was sitting on the steps with the doors open and didn't even move, and the rest were on their phones. A terrible impression.
If you're looking for an Italian restaurant in Amsterdam, this place could be an acceptable option, although there are several aspects that could be improved. The best thing about our visit was the pizzas, which were well-made and definitely the most recommended item on the menu.
The pasta, however, was disappointing: it was tasty, but it wasn't fresh pasta and relied too heavily on spices for flavor. For this reason, I wouldn't consider it an authentic Italian restaurant, especially if you're looking for a traditional experience.
Another negative point was the service, which was surprisingly slow even though the restaurant was only half full. This unnecessarily prolonged our meal.
The drinks were also quite expensive, something to keep in mind. In total, we spent €23 per person, which is rather high for the overall quality.
In short, it's an acceptable place to eat a good pizza in Amsterdam, but there's room for improvement in authenticity, service, and value for money.
