Wij zijn ook op een onbeschofte manier behandeld door de steiger portier (die zichzelf de manager noemde). We kwamen met de boot om een hapje te eten. Hij vroeg niet of we een tafeltje wilden, maar vroeg wat we kwamen doen. Toen hij de indruk kreeg dat we alleen maar iemand kwamen ophalen, stuurde hij ons weg. En hij schold ons nog uit ook. Gelukkig waren we bij Het Wapen Van Reeuwijk wel welkom.
Decided to have a coffee after long flight delay. Used a complimentary voucher. Visit was 3.30pm. Not very busy. Must have been staff change over time. Staff supper noisy and loud. Appeared to annoy some patrons. Staff not particularly welcoming and friendly. Would not recommend. Disappointing.
What a horror it is to eat here. It wasn't particularly busy, and yet they managed to not clean a single table. Trash cans were overflowing with trash, and the floor was covered in filth, both upstairs and downstairs. There wasn't a soul around who cared even a little bit about their work, and chatting with each other was more important. The food at McDonald's isn't great, but here they manage to make a mess of it with the packaging.
We had made a reservation for March 9th. When we arrived, the restaurant was closed (under renovation?). So we came completely for nothing. No email from the restaurant or Groupon stating that a reservation wasn't possible. Bizarre. I'll never book here again. The restaurant was also unreachable by phone.
Poor customer service and confusing rules
I am a frequent customer here and often bring my friends, but our recent experience left a very bad taste in our mouth. Because we are not heavy eaters, we ordered à la carte so we could take our leftovers home.
A female staff member correctly told us this was fine. However, a male colleague later stepped in and made us feel incredibly uncomfortable. He allowed us to take the food, but claimed he was only doing it because his colleague was "wrong" and made a mistake.
He was completely backward. She was 100% right—when you order à la carte, you pay per dish, and you are absolutely allowed to take your food home. It was totally unfair of him to make us feel like we were doing something wrong, and it was wrong of him to blame his colleague when she was the only one who actually knew the correct policy. Management needs to train their staff so customers aren't made to feel guilty for taking home food they paid for.
Awful service. Ordered 4 pizzas via Uber! Never arrived, called New York pizza they said it had been delivered to the wrong address!!!! They never tried to contact me.
Will never go back! Terrible customer service.
Back to De Smeltkroes after about 6 years.
Not much has changed. The same friendly service, a nice, spacious, and clean dining area.
The nasi was tasty.
Unfortunately, the bakabana was inedible. The thick layer of dough was rock hard. Because of this last point, I could not award 5 stars.
